The village of Cerne Abbas, just a short drive from Dorchester, has a modern history dating back to the Doomsday Book in 1087. Known worldwide for it’s iconic Cerne Giant the village is charming and well worth a visit.

The Cerne Abbas Giant however which can be found on the outskirts of the village is thought to date back to the Iron Age. The 180 foot tall naked figure carved into the chalk cliff face is believed to be an Iron Age fertility symbol.

For  any visitor to Dorset wishing to explore the county Cerne Abbas is a must visit location.
