Portland is the home of The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy home to the sailing events of the London 2012 Games.

This beautifully shot footage shows some wonderful views of the island’s stunning rugged scenery and brings to life the vibrance of the sailing as boats are prepared at the academy and put to sea in the waters of Portland harbour …

This is a very poor representation of our Island Home. If this is supposed to inspire people to visit Portland, then you have seriously got it wrong! The Film producer could not have picked worse days to film Portland. It comes across as Lifeless and bleak, and Portland is not like that! I suggest the “Visit Dorset” team re-think this film and show Portland for what it is, a remarkable Isle! A message to the creaters of this film….It is a poor attempt with the worst music possible! message to Visit Dorset…Please Sort it out!

Hi Portland Nipper, we didn’t produce this video but really liked it ourselves which is why it’s included on the site. There seem to have been a lot of folk who have liked it also judging from the number of Facebook likes on the page. Happy to include any other material you may think shows Portland in the light you feel it deserves if you would like to suggest anything …

Hi Admin, Thanks for the reply. I hope the film makers are not put off by my comments, I am grateful to anyone who is willing to show Portland off to the world, as normally Portland is disregarded locally when shown on Television. Even the great John Craven himself, when he sat on Portland’s West cliff overlooking the mainland in a episode of countryfile said…”Here we are today…in Weymouth”

True, there are a number of facebook likes and that’s great, but to me The film does not do Justice to Portland. And I fear, it may put people off coming here, and as a site dedicated to increase tourism in Dorset, I am sure you do not want that to happen.

I wish you well for the future, as I do to those involved with the film. My regards to you all!
