During April 2011 sand sculptors from around the world descended on Weymouth to help local sand sculptor Mark Anderson create amazing sculptures in sand for Weymouth’s latest International attraction Sandworld.
1500 tonnes of Weymouth sand, said to be amongst the best in the world for sand sculpting, were used to create the sculptures, the majority of which are housed under a huge marquee. Sandworld has a café serving refreshments and an activity and sand play area to enable visitors to try their hand at the craft.
We think this video which chronicles the creation of Sandworld speaks for it’s self and will not only make people want to come to Weymouth to experience the exhibition but also inspire many to to take up this truly sustainable artform.
More information about Sandworld can be found on the Weymouth Sandworld website at www.sandworld.co.uk
